MARKHAM STOUFFVILLE HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
ANNOUNCES GUINNESS WORLD RECORD GOLF DAY
Fundraiser to set Guinness World Records at Angus Glen
Markham, Ontario Feb. 16th, 2006: Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation has announced details of an exciting community event taking place on July 3rd at Angus Glen Golf Club called Guinness World Record Golf Day. The event will challenge a number of existing Guinness Golf World Records, including the most golfers to walk a course in a day, set in St. Andrews, Scotland, in 2003 when 491 players ventured out to raise money for a local hospital.
“This event is a fun way to raise awareness and funds for the Hospital while involving our community,” says Chad Hanna, the Foundation’s President. “It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity that’s open to all golfers, regardless of age
or ability.”
In order to play their part in golf history and enter into the Guinness Book of World Records, players will have the option to participate by raising pledges from friends, family, or work colleagues, or paying an entrance fee. “Funds raised through this unique event will support equipment, programming and education needs at Markham Stouffville Hospital,” adds Hanna.
Interest from individuals as well as service groups and businesses in Markham is already extremely high, especially as the Guinness Book of World Records have confirmed they’ll be on hand to officiate.
“I’m challenging all our members, as well as the community as a whole, to get out there and help make history,” says Keith Bray, President and CEO of Markham Board of Trade. “The hospital is a partner organization of ours, and this is one fun way to show our support.”
